Green loan

Start with the public grants, not with the credit

A green loan is a consumer credit intended for energy renovation works: insulation, heat pump, high-efficiency boiler, joinery, photovoltaic panels, charging point. When it finances identified works carried out by a named professional, it is a purpose-linked credit: if the works are not carried out, the credit is cancelled as of right (art. L.312-48), which genuinely protects you if the company defaults.

But let us be clear about the order of things. Before any credit, two French public schemes should be examined: the zero-interest eco-loan (éco-PTZ), an interest-free loan distributed by banks under agreement with the French State for a package of works carried out by an RGE-certified company, and MaPrimeRénov’, a grant from the French Anah paid subject to income and energy-gain conditions. Energy savings certificates and local grants often come on top.

We distribute neither the éco-PTZ nor MaPrimeRénov’ — it would be dishonest to suggest otherwise. Our role comes afterwards: financing the remaining balance, bridging grants paid in arrears, or covering non-eligible works. Seek advice from a France Rénov’ adviser; it is free and it can substantially reduce what you will need to borrow.

  • Éco-PTZ and MaPrimeRénov’ to be examined first: often more advantageous
  • Purpose-linked credit for the works: cancelled as of right if they are not carried out
  • Financing of the remaining balance and bridging of the grants
  • Amount: from €5,000 to €500,000, fixed annual rate of 3.90%
Key features

The éco-PTZ

Interest-free loan of up to 50.000 € for a whole-home renovation, restricted to dwellings over two years old and to works carried out by an RGE-certified company. It is applied for at a bank operating under agreement. Look at it before any other financing.

MaPrimeRénov’

A grant from the French Anah, adjusted according to your income and the energy gain achieved. It is paid after the works: hence a frequent need for bridging finance, which credit can cover.

RGE certification

Almost all grants require a tradesperson recognised as « Reconnu Garant de l’Environnement ». Check the certification on the official register before signing the quote: without it, the grants fall away and the financing plan collapses.

The remaining balance

This is the share the grants do not cover. That is what should be borrowed, not the total amount of the quote. Our simulator gives you the corresponding monthly payment.

How it works
01

The audit and the quotes

Have several quotes drawn up by RGE-certified companies. An energy audit points to the works with the best gain-to-cost ratio — often insulation before replacing the heating.

02

Costing the grants

A France Rénov’ adviser estimates your entitlements to MaPrimeRénov’, to the CEE scheme and to the éco-PTZ free of charge. You then obtain the only figure that concerns us: the actual remaining balance.

03

Reviewing the additional financing

We review the financing of that remaining balance free of charge, as a purpose-linked credit backed by the quotes. As lender and broker, we finance certain applications directly and put the others out to competition on total cost.

04

Signature, works, payment

After the 14-day withdrawal period, the funds are released in line with the progress of the works. Keep invoices and certificates: payment of the grants depends on them.

What we bring to a renovation project
  • We tell you to look at the public grants first, even if that reduces the credit
  • We finance what genuinely remains payable by you, without inflating the amount borrowed
  • Credit linked to the quotes: legal protection if the company does not carry out the works
  • Comparison of several lenders on total cost, free review with no obligation
Frequently asked questions

Our annual rate is single and fixed: 3.90%, whatever the product — so there is no separate « green » scale with us. The only scheme at a zero rate guaranteed by the French State remains the éco-PTZ, which we do not distribute. Our rate applies subject to review and acceptance.

Yes, combining the éco-PTZ and MaPrimeRénov’ is possible, and a consumer credit can top up the package. Be careful, though: the sum of the monthly payments counts towards your overall debt ratio.

Because the grant is paid after the works, whereas the tradesperson often asks for a deposit and then the balance on delivery. The credit then acts as bridging finance: it is sized so it can be partly settled as soon as the grant is received.

With a credit linked to the works: yes, it is cancelled as of right if the service is not performed (art. L.312-48). With a credit without proof of use: no, you would repay regardless. On a building project the difference is major.

The main grants target owners, whether occupying or letting. A tenant can finance certain equipment with a personal loan, but the energy saving will benefit the property: obtain the owner’s agreement beforehand.

This equipment falls under specific schemes (charging-point tax credit, self-consumption premium) with their own conditions. Here again, cost the grant before setting the amount to borrow.

Is your remaining balance costed?

Have its financing reviewed free of charge. And if you have not yet consulted a France Rénov’ adviser, start there: that is our advice, even though it reduces your credit.

Credit is a commitment and must be repaid. Check that you can afford the repayments before you commit.
